It used to be the marathon that was the ultimate test of endurance. Then a group of fitness fanatics in Hawaii decided to settle their debate over who was the fittest – the runner, the cyclist or the swimmer, by combining all three disciplines in a 226.2km (140.6 miles) challenge.

Fifteen men stood on the starting line in February 1978, and each was handed three sheets of hand written paper, listing a few rules and an exhortation, “Swim 2.4 miles! Bike 112 miles! Run 26.2 miles! Brag for the rest of your life.”

“Whoever finishes first, we’ll call him the Iron Man”. Said John Collins, a US navy commander, giving birth to a tag that stands until this day, with a minor alteration: every single person who finishes the race is an IRONMAN”

Description

Ironman Busselton highlights the beauty of the Western Australian coast. The swim around the famous jetty, the ride through the forest, and the beautiful views from the run along the foreshore. It is alway a favorite amongst the Australian and International triathlon community.

If you were lucky enough to compete in this prestigious event, then you must frame your achievement, along with a little piece of the beautiful scenery.
